As part of the International Conference on Advances in Water Resources (AWARE 2025), scheduled from 10–12 June 2025 at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal, we are pleased to announce two technical pre-conference workshops to be held on 9 June 2025.

These workshops aim to offer in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in critical areas of water resources engineering and climate science. The workshops are being organized in collaboration with the Central Water Commission (CWC), Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.

This workshop will focus on methodologies for assessing stationarity in climate extremes, a critical factor in long-term hydrologic and infrastructure planning. Participants will explore theoretical and practical approaches to evaluating non-stationary behavior in hydrologic datasets, with a focus on climate resilience and adaptive planning.

This workshop will provide hands-on training in urban flood modeling using contemporary tools and techniques, with an emphasis on the integration of river survey data. IDEATHON

The “IDEATHON: पर्यावरण एवं जल पर चर्चा” is a project-based panel discussion aimed at fostering meaningful dialogues among academicians, research scientists, public sectors and industry experts on critical issues in water and environmental management. This event is part of the AWaRe 2025 International Conference on Advances in Water Resources, organized by MANIT Bhopal, India, in association with the Central Water Commission (CWC), Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India. With water being a fundamental resource for sustaining life and economic development, this discussion will focus on innovative, research-driven, and policy-based solutions to some of the most pressing global environmental challenges.

Objectives and Themes

The Ideathon is designed to generate project-based solutions for water conservation, management, and sustainable energy practices. The themes include National Water Mission Projects, Land Hydrology Management, Renewable Energy Development, Groundwater Management and Regulations, River Interlinking, Training and Management, and Disaster Management and Mitigation. Through an interdisciplinary approach, the session will address emerging challenges, explore innovative methodologies, and propose actionable strategies that align with national and global sustainability goals.

Session Structure

The panel discussion will begin with a 10-minute introduction, providing an overview of the vision and schemes of the Govt. of India through National Water Mission with Central Water Commission, the importance of water and environmental conservation, and a brief introduction to the panelists and discussion themes. The core of the event consists of a 90-minute thematic discussion, where each problem raised by participants will be allocated 15 minutes for in-depth discussion. Each theme will be introduced with a contextual background, followed by expert insights into key challenges, ongoing research, and project-based solutions. There will be two core panelists for each theme, one from academia and the other from non-academia, who will address each problem based on different themes. A key focus will be bridging the gap between research and real-world application, with panelists sharing their expertise on implementation challenges, policy regulations, and technological advancements. The discussion will be interactive, with active audience participation encouraged through Q&A sessions and live discussions. The event will conclude with 20 minutes of closing remarks and takeaways, summarizing key insights from the discussions. Panelists will highlight potential areas for future collaboration, outline research opportunities, and provide actionable recommendations for industry and policy integration.

Participation Procedure

The problems have to be submitted through the registration and submission link below. The problems will be conveyed to the panelists a prior, and the selected problems will be discussed during the event. The comments on the remaining submitted problems will be published on the conference website after the event. All the participants should be fully registered for the conference. The deadline for the registration and problem submission is on 30th April 2025. The detailed list of panelists will be announced soon.

IAHR & IAHR YPNs

Building a Global Hydro-Environmental Network

Workshop 1

We are excited to announce a special session at AWARE 2025 titled "IAHR & IAHR YPNs: Building a Global Hydro-Environmental Network", to be held on 11th June 2025 from 2:30 PM onwards. This event is being hosted in collaboration with the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) along with its active Young Professionals Networks – IAHR India YPN, Southern India YPN, and Western India YPN. The session aims to foster cross-regional collaboration, knowledge exchange, and career growth opportunities for young professionals in the water and environmental sectors.

The program will begin with a brief inaugural session featuring eminent speakers from IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee, and IIT Bombay, who will share their perspectives on the importance of building a global hydro-environmental community. This will be followed by a panel discussion titled "IAHR Hydro Forum: Career Insights in Academia & Industry for Young Water Professionals", offering valuable guidance and first-hand experiences from leaders in both academic and professional domains.
